Land rent is the answer to Chinese human rights abuses

Today's top story is of America criticizing China over human rights. Ai Weiwei was arrested for "economic crimes" because he "investigated the collapse of shoddy school buildings in the Sichuan earthquake and led demonstrations in Beijing over the demolition of an artists' village."

Land rent would make it easy for the Chinese people to choose better leaders, even if they were restricted to choosing party members. As long as leadership steadily improves, problems like shoddy buildings and fear of dissent will naturally go away.

Condemning a proud nation seldom works. Promoting land rent would be more effective, as it also furthers China's aims (growth and stability).
